Charity Fundraiser Painting: “This Is Special III” 2015

‘Het IJsbeelden festival‘ (The ice sculpture festival) is the largest ice sculpture event in Europe. In december 2015 Dennie Boxem and his colleague Jamilla Op den Kamp initiated the third edition of ‘This Is Special’ at the event. This year Hollands largest charity event Serious Request raised money and awareness for future generations in arias of war. Boxems students chose the image for the painting; a boy in dispair in front of his destroyed neighborhood. The painting is 1,7 by 1,1 meters (66,9 by 43,3 inch).

As a publicity stunt a team of students and teachers of special education school De Ambelt Zwolle carried paintings through city centre of Zwolle to ‘Het IJsbeelden festival‘, collecting money at the same time. At the festival visitors payed a minimum of one Euro to paint a square. Approximately four hundred visitors contributed to the painting. The total amount of €1.367,46 was donated to Serious Request 2015.
