This 3D mosaic sculpture of a Polar Bear is Dennie’s first circular artwork at The Makersfabriek. The Makersfabriek actually has their own stuffed polar bear at their department BREINN to make a statement: “if the habitat of such a majestic creature can disappear, so can ours.” The statement is backed up with a table in the shape of The Netherlands with the actual heights of our landscape. The sea is actual water and has an icecap that can ‘melt’, flooding the land, to visualise our risks. Meanwhile BREINN is working on the first floating apartment complex of The Netherlands. This is why the first mosaic sculpture had to be a polar bear.
