EVENT: “Orange The World”. 2020

Soroptimist is a worldwide organization for women working on improving the lives of women and girls throughout the world.

Over 90 countries worldwide participate in Orange The World by enlightening their iconic buildings in orange. The action started on November 25th (International Day Against Violence Against Women) till December 10th (International Day of Human Rights). In the Netherlands over 20 cities joined. Zwolle ‘oranged’ its monument De Sassenpoort.

Boxem made a street art piece including Marianne, who symbolizes Freedom in Eugène Delocroixs masterpiece La Liberté guidant le peuple (1830). As one of the strongest depict women in art history, she is the perfect subject to lead the way to equality between man and woman.
